Hello all! Hope you are enjoying the group so far. I know that certain people are not. This seems like as good a time as any to mention some things I do not appreciate. If you feel that you are being treated unfairly in this community I would love to hear from you to try to be helpful or supportive. I have the best of intentions, take it or leave it. So that being said, please direct these notes to the group, and do not send me private notes containing content such as this:

"I can't believe you declined my [descirption here] piece, a favorite watercolor among [insert subgroup of] DA fans. If you're really that stuck up, then pardon me for leaving your group."

"Nice bragging that you have a degree in watercolor. Really - get over yourself - you may be good, but you're not that good."

Please don't imply that I am trying to lord anything over your head, or imply that me not liking your work as much as some of your other "artist" friends means that I am not an artist. Any reasonable person knows that makes little sense.

Please don't tell me you think I'm a bad painter. Maybe I am, but I don't think that technically has anything to do with my moderation of the group. If I pick paintings to put in the gallery that the community seems to enjoy, and I offer help to those who request it, then I believe I am serving my purpose.

Please don't call me a "loser".

Please don't use the phrase: "pull that stick out of your huge, pretentious ass." My ass might be a bit larger than average (how did you know that?) but it's very shapely, and I don't like people speaking to it that way.

And after all of that is said, please try not to write me an extremely inflamed note and then cover up with "like I give a shit at what some stuck up bitch like you thinks." Now you're contradicting yourself.

The point is that I have experience with watercolor, much less than many people, but also much more than others. The reason I mention it is not to make anybody feel bad but honestly because a formal education is expensive, and it disappoints me that so many truly creative people haven't been able to find an artistic community conducive to personal growth because they haven't bought into the ridiculously overpriced university system. I think that knowledge should be accessible to everyone who desires it, and my main goal here is to be helpful.

I also desire for this group to serve as a more sophisticated and serious venue for watercolor painters on DA. You might have noticed that other media have groups which are just as (if not more) exclusive as this one.

So if anybody feels confused about policy or generally unappreciated here, please do ask questions, but please do not use inflammatory language or insult me personally. If our problems cannot be resolved please feel free to leave the group without making a scene.

If you send me a note resembling the content above you WILL be permanently banned.

Thanks to all who took the time to read. And keep those submissions coming! :)

One thing for sure, you know how to write funnily.
And well, dont get too upset, this site is full of kids and asses and various combination of those, and they have no idea how demanding being an admin is.
I wish i had time for proper watercolor now...ah, semester, satan take it.

What in the world is this? :noes:

Gah, people are such little... you know. I had the same issue in one of the groups I'm a co-founder in, there it was, I declined a few pictures because they didn't follow our rules, and of course, them little people started complaining not only at me, but also my fellow admins.

I can't see why insulting the admins would help D:

I suppose insulting the mods makes you feel "better"... at least you got to air your disappointment someway, at least you got to put in words your feeling of being unfairly judged and punished, and maybe it helps to get over it if you think it wasn't because your work just isn't "good enough yet", but because someone else is [---].

I think it felt better to tell people that
a) I happen to be the current mod, and I will continue being the mod until I resign (of my own free will, and definitely not because some people DEMAND I resign) or until the management kicks me out, and mods happen to have such privileges they do. Unfortunately now it happens to be so that one of your privileges is choosing the artwork you want to show in this group, and your reasons to do so is actually quite irrelevant. If they don't like the way I take care of my group, there's nothing to stop them from leaving, and/or starting their own group, even if they practically copy mine. Good luck, I say.
b) I am the moderator because I am the mod, not because I would be a better person, judge, more knowledgeable in the subject(s) of the group, have better taste, manners, personality, looks, more friends, sleeping with the management etc. etc. but because I asked/was asked to be a moderator and was made one. It really is as simple as that.

Sorry to hear that! You gave me useful critiques once and I appreciate that. I hope that you will continue doing what you do and be able to ignore reactions like that. All the best, Jettie.

Heh, I just think it's funny that you get comments like that. If I were the mod, I don't think I'd bother responding or banning. I'd just delete them. I would, however, ban for spamming (that is, if someone kept sending such messages). But hey, I'm not going to object if you want to ban them... can't say that we'll miss much as a group if you do :)

Sorry to hear that such things are happening:/ But it's probably what group founders or contributors experience at some point of time... don't let it impact you. Actually such people are just giving away a chance to improve and grow artistically. So that shall be their punishment, LOL

Some people are just dumb. I really can't believe people said that kind of stuff.

I admit that I was a little dissapointed once when something of mine was rejected.
But then I just got over it and was like "why? why was it not accepted?"
And I looked at it compare to ones that were of mine and I realized it wasn't as good quality.

I think some people just take things too personally.
And I also think some people just don't care enough to try and improve their work.
And a lot of people care only about pageview/watch/fav.
So they submit their stuff everywhere... and seem to think just cause their arts in a lot of groups or they are "popular" that it means they are better then everyone else. Uhmm yeah, no.
EX: Just cause Twilight is popular doesn't mean it's a good in literary standards. I don't really see it being taught in highschool 50 years from now.

I just find it annoying they sent you such rude notes...
Cause your one of the last people that deserves to be talked to that way.

I think you've done a good job so far as long as I've been in the group.
And I think it's good that this group pushes people to try and make their best work.
